"It doesn't make any sense!""It’s all so f。。。ing crazy!"--actual quotes from Family TreeIndeed。The third and final volume of a pretty forgettable creator-owned series by Jeff Lemire with art by Phil Hester。 A little girl is turning into a tree, and maybe the whole world is。 Is this a good thing? Why is it even happening? Has some obscure environmental point with a (as usual with Lemire) family foundation, and yes, a son-Dad-Granddad central trope。 Not Sweet Tooth, not Swamp Thing, not even close "It doesn't make any sense!""It’s all so f。。。ing crazy!"--actual quotes from Family TreeIndeed。The third and final volume of a pretty forgettable creator-owned series by Jeff Lemire with art by Phil Hester。 A little girl is turning into a tree, and maybe the whole world is。 Is this a good thing? Josh,
What a strange end to a strange series。 High concept and run through with themes of family, Vol。 3 brings it all to an end--and a new beginning。
Wes Robertson,
This was a decent conclusion, but pretty rushed。 I’d have loved more time exploring the present (future?) time of the story
Marianne,
Not my favorite series by Jeff Lemire, but the art was exceptional and the story line was solid until the very end。
James DeSantis,
Kind of bumped this series is so short。 Family tree starts off interesting, second part is high paced and crazy, and then ends decent but you can feel it ended too soon。 With watching how the "present" time period fighting off against these guys who want the world back to what it was before the trees took over。 It's simple, it has a few emotional bits that work, but everything feels super rushed。 Luckily I know Lemire still one of the best, this just wasn't "The best" A 3 out of 5。 Kind of bumped this series is so short。 Family tree starts off interesting, second part is high paced and crazy, and then ends decent but you can feel it ended too soon。 With watching how the "present" time period fighting off against these guys who want the world back to what it was before the trees took over。 It's simple, it has a few emotional bits that work, but everything feels super rushed。 Luckily I know Lemire still one of the best, this just wasn't "The best" A 3 out of 5。 。。。more
Steve Portigal,
This series was always silly (people turn into trees!) but I had hopes they would take the premise and do something with it。 Instead it was filled with cliches, unresolved storylines, almost no character development, and all of sudden it was wrapped up, all done, and wait, WHAT? Could've gone on for 127 more chapters, but still satisfying。 Could've gone on for 127 more chapters, but still satisfying。 。。。more

Kevin Duvall,
Lemire touches on a lot of the same themes as his other works (family, the environment, etc。), but I stayed emotionally invested throughout all 12 issues。 From reading some of the other reviews of this series, I think I like Phil Hester’s art more than the average person, which I’m sure helps。 Another four-issue arc might’ve fleshed out the setting and background a bit more, but I’m happy with what we got。
Martha,
Beyond the doomer message that the world is better off without humans on it, what I didn't enjoy in this series (which should have been only 2 volumes, not 3, 4 chapters an issue? what a waste) is that it lacks the delicate character building that Lemire usually excels at。 Nobody in this feels like an interesting, real person。 The plot - mostly a sequence of violent scenes - goes by without enough quiet moments to really build up who these people are when someone isn't trying to kill them。 The a Beyond the doomer message that the world is better off without humans on it, what I didn't enjoy in this series (which should have been only 2 volumes, not 3, 4 chapters an issue? what a waste) is that it lacks the delicate character building that Lemire usually excels at。 Nobody in this feels like an interesting, real person。 The plot - mostly a sequence of violent scenes - goes by without enough quiet moments to really build up who these people are when someone isn't trying to kill them。 The art's fine, the story's not terrible, but it was a really underwhelming read in the end。 。。。more
Etienne,
Maybe it has taken to long between the release of vol。 2 and this one, but it seems like I drop off of the story a bit, or maybe this wasn't that good of an ending。 I like the universe and world this series has created, but this final volume just felt a bit too casual has an post-apocalyptical story。 Good, but could have been better! Now it ends strong but I wish the rest had been as good as the ending。
J。L。 Flores,
Me gustó el universo creado, y el lazo entre los protagonistas, sin embargo todo se sintió tan apresurado, como si le hubiese faltado pausas, reflexiones。 Puede ser solo mi idea。

Mike Hughes,
An ending that doesn’t live up to the strong familial relationships established in the first two arcs。 Felt rushed, choppy, and made me wonder if this project just ran out of steam at a certain point。
Chris Lemmerman,
Jeff Lemire and Phil Hester's Image book comes to an end, and I'm left scratching my head as to what the point was。When this book first started, I thought it had a lot of potential。 Then they announced it was only going to be 12 issues, and I was sceptical。 Now it's over, and I'm less than impressed。There was a lot of story to be mined here。 We only had 12 issues with the past storyline, and 8 with the present one, and I didn't feel like I'd connected enough to the characters to really care abou Jeff Lemire and Phil Hester's Image book comes to an end, and I'm left scratching my head as to what the point was。When this book first started, I thought it had a lot of potential。 Then they announced it was only going to be 12 issues, and I was sceptical。 Now it's over, and I'm less than impressed。There was a lot of story to be mined here。 We only had 12 issues with the past storyline, and 8 with the present one, and I didn't feel like I'd connected enough to the characters to really care about by the time everything was over。There was no explanation as to what was going on either - everything ends and we're just meant to accept the ending。 I don't need everything laid out for me in black and white, but there's not even breadcrumbs to try and piece it together for ourselves。Hester's artwork's still fairly consistent。 He was a good choice for a book about spindly trees, and he pulls off the final few issues without a drop in quality (although the last few issues did take a long time to come out in single issues)。It's not often I use disappointed and Jeff Lemire in the same sentence, but I think I kind of have to here - this was a disappointing Jeff Lemire book。 There's nothing inherently wrong with it, but it just ends far too quickly, and I wanted so much more。 。。。more

The only reason I'm reading Family Tree, Vol。 2: Seeds is because I thought that was the end! And what do you mean "Meg's final transformation into a tree"? She's already transformed??? *sigh* I guess I'll have to read this in the future! 。。。more
